Question 2 - Reflective evaluation - David Williams

In the first video the social group is middle class females. This can be recognied from the way she talks and the clothes she wears. The female is made the victim because she is weaker then the male character amking her more vulnerable. The character is a damsel in distress and acts very scared and vulnerable so she follows the sterotypes of gender.

In the second video the victim seems as though he belongs to a sporty middle class social gorup becasue of the clothes he wears, items he possess and the house he lives in. This character challenges the sterotypes of a male character as he doesnt seem so dominant and gets killed easily.

My understanding of social is good becasue the main victim of my film was a female character as this sterotyped as a weaker sex. I have made the killer a tall male cahracter to make them more dominant  and powerful. In my film at teh begining when the two victims are talking the male character persuades the female character to enter the woods. This shows that the male character is more fearless following social sterotypes.

Planning

For our horror film we have decided to use a male actor as the killer as males are stereotyped as the more dominant and aggressive sex. We chose female victim because they are stereotyped as the weaker sex and gave here a male companion that is made to seem untrustworthy by the events that unfold in the film. We have also chosen these characters because most horror films have the same characters so we decided to follow the pattern.

Feedback

The killing scene at the end of our film and Tina's death in the film 'Nightmare on elm street' both represent social groups in the same way because the victim is a short, scared, vulnerable female and the killer is a tall fearless male.

feedback sheets

Our feedback was made from a range of opinions. Most people thought the costumes of the characters could have been made better and for the events to be less predictable. They also thought the camera was a little shaky at times but the film made them want to know what happened next as they thought it had good variety.

Here is a Wordle i have made from responses by the audience.
